1. What are your thoughts on texting in social situations?
Texting in social situations can be an exception at times when it is an emergency, however, this does not approve of the fact that texting during social meetings is accepted. Texting other friends is very rude to those who are around, because of the fact that texting during social situations show that you have no interest in your peers whatsoever. People should not be texting during a social situation because you get detached from your own friends and peers. You will miss out on the good things in life. Most of the teenagers now a days do not understand the fact that texting is an obsession. I don't understand why your cellphone can be such an addicting thing when the only thing you can do to it is text, take photos, browse the internet and GET ADDICTED TO IT. I wouldn't say that I am not a texting addict myself because everyday there's at least someone that starts a conversation with you. However, I try stopping myself from getting to attached to my phone and try to spent some time on my social life. Getting hooked on to texting is a very sad thing because it is like another way of saying that you are going to anti-social and text whoever is willing to be as anti-social as you. DO NOT LIVE THE LIFE OF AN ANTI-SOCIAL! Texting can not only ruin your social life, but also can be a big effect on your future. It will affect your grades, then it will be hard to find a job in the future because they are going to look through your personal records and see that you have bad grades in school. How are they gonna trust you now??
2. Do you find it rude if you’re talking to somebody and they proceed to text continuously on their cell phone?
Personally, I would not mind because I, myself have done it as well. But after reading this blog, I have realized how rude it would be to be texting while you are having a conversation with a peer. Texting while talking to friends might start making them assume that you are in your own world and have no interest in things outside it. I would find it rude when I am talking, and they do not bother responding back. It's been done to me by my older sister, and I got really mad because it seemed like she was in her own world staring at her cellphone screen and pressing her fingers down on the keypad. When she did this to me, I stopped doing it as well because I've put myself in someone else's shoes and realized how rude it must have been for me to do it to them. Now I'm looking back and thinking that I probably look like I was getting controlled by my own cellphone; my eyes glued to the screen, my fingers attacking the keypad. I couldn't see how stupid I looked when I was addicted to my phone until my friends told me that I was too attached to my cellphone. I learned not texting on my phone very frequently because I realized that it is doing nothing but just turning me into the slave of my own phone. How ridiculous.
3.If you had to come up with a list of five etiquette rules for texting, what would they be?
Rule #Uno: When texting, people should not detach themselves from the social situation. Everyone should be included in discussions.
Rule #Dos: Only interrupt the social situation when it is an emergency. Do not keep texting.
Rule #Tres: Respond back to your peers when asked a question, don't continue texting and ignore them, THAT'S RUDE. if that were to happen to you, you would find it very rude as well. So listen carefully and answer when asked.
Rule #Quatro: You shouldn't attach yourself to your phone much, it's nothing but a device its not going to give you money, or is it going to get you a job. DO NOT BE A VICTIM!
Rule #Cinco: Have Fun with your peers! :):):):):):):):):):):):):)
WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
